Christ stands alone, condemned and bereft.
All human presence is left out deliberately to emphasize the path He must walk alone.

Only the Holy Spirit is present
(although I tried to include Pilate).

The crown-like shape in the upper section above Him reminds us of His Royalty while the grotto-like, cavernous space around Him foreshadows the 14th station.
