Lovely space in a cozy neighborhood.
We stayed here with our crew of 6 spanning 2 years to 65 years. There was something for everyone.
Jim and Ginger more than accommodated our small children and the grown ups enjoyed touring their lovely back garden. The beds were comfortable, their kitchen was well stocked and we spent more than one night dining in because the space was so relaxing and enjoyable. We look forward to staying again!
Hosts with a passion for caring
Ginger & Jim are first rate hostess and host with an attention to the details of personalized comfort and care unparalleled in our extensive travels. Their home is warm, comfortable and thoughtfully practical in its anticipation of every guests’ needs. We will be back!
Outstandingly clean and well equipped.
The hosts made as easy and pleasant as could be. We will be back the next time we’re in Evanston.
Everything about this rental experience exceeded our expectations.
Ginger and Jim were very quick to respond to the rental request and contacted us well in advance of our arrival with check-in information. The home was well located for our purposes, in the middle of Evanston. The living space was set up for visitors, with plenty of supplies for short or long-term stays and instructions on how to find and use everything. There was even a great book about the history of the house and local attractions. We will certainly be back.
Our best VRBO experience to date! Perfectly equipped, great layout, excellent location.
The owners have definitely thought of this property from a guest’s perspective, and it shows. Everything is easy to use, supplies are ample, and instructions are simple. We were in town for Christmas with our Aunt, who lives nearby. The place was decorated tastefully, and we were even able to cook Christmas dinner without buying utensils & pans. Stay here!! (But I hate to recommend, because I want it all for myself!!).
This is the best set up and most well equipped place we have stayed away from home. We have stayed at a few different rental properties and this one is the nicest and most well thought out for it's guests. Beyond loved it!!!!
For anyone on a long-stay or who is otherwise tired of hotels and living out of a suitcase, go stay with Ginger and Jim! You will never find a more thoughtful pair of hosts, nor a more "tricked out pad".
They were completely unflappable, and everything was sorted before I even finished asking! The house is well-designed, generously proportioned, and high spec. You could check in, stay, and check out without your hosts -- but you wouldn't want to, because they are fantastic. Thank you, both!
Outstanding Stay in a Wonderful Home
Home and furnishings are in excellent condition and very complete with quality bedding, towels, robes, appliances, dishes and cooking utensils. Also provided were milk, juice, coffee pods, butter, jams, condiments, beverages, snacks, toiletries etc. We should have checked in before going to the market.
We were able to prepare a nice dinner and entertain family who live in the area just as if we were in our own home. The school playground across the street was great for the grandkids on the weekend. Jim and Ginger made every effort to ensure all of our needs were met without intruding on our privacy.
The home is located within walking distance of the Metra and purple lines, grocery stores and restaurants. Street noise during the day was not noticeable and evenings were quiet. Off street parking behind the unit was appreciated. The 1500 Main St house manual with detailed instructions regarding appliance operation and area attractions was very helpful. It was an enjoyable stay and we would return in a heart beat.
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We stayed here for our wedding weekend and it was such a great home base. Every detail was attended to- from snacks in the kitchen to extra toiletries in the bathrooms and umbrellas near the door. Book this place if you can!
Ginger and Jim are the perfect hosts: always available and willing to help in any way possible to make their host's stay enjoyable.
The house itself is amazing; it used to be a grocery store some 85 years ago and has been turned into a habitable space with great success. The wooden floor cracks a bit but that's part of the charm of such place. Also, there're plenty of equipment and decoration details all along the hose, quite more than the average AirBnb equal places I've stayed This is a highly recommended place to stay when visiting northern Chicago
